Murchison Foundation
Murchison Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. It owns and operates BingoWorld in Charlottetown, Summerside and Alberton.
In 1984, Murchison Foundation was set-up to assist in providing programs and services for people experiencing mental illness on Prince Edward Island. It accomplishes this through its support of the Canadian Mental Health Association of Prince Edward Island. The foundation proudly bears the name of Dr. Alexander J. Murchison, a pioneer of mental health services in Prince Edward Island for more than 30 years, until his death in 1961. Dr. Murchison was one of the truly dedicated servants of the mentally ill, whose tireless efforts brought great progress in treatment facilities to our province.
CMHA-PEI
The Canadian Mental Health Association - PEI Division, is a community-based organization that began its work on Prince Edward Island as a division of CMHA National in 1959. Their mandate is “Mental Health for All”. Their mission is to promote the mental health of all people living on Prince Edward Island by enabling individuals, groups and communities to increase their control over, and enhance, their mental health. To carry out this mission, their 150 volunteers and 80+ support staff provide programs and services, education and information, research, advocacy and social policy development designed to help all Islanders improve their mental wellness.
